What the Blurb says:

This little island has some big secrets...

Isla's got the designer clothes and dream job as head stylist at the most exclusive salon in Edinburgh. The fact that she's been so single-minded in this quest that she's forgotten to have a life has completely passed her by - until disaster strikes.

With her flaky mate AWOL and even her reliable old dad a bit distracted, Isla is out of options.

Forced into a corner, she heads to the remote island of Auchenmore to help out her aunt who is in desperate need of an extra pair of hands at her salon.

Finn is thirty-five and reality has just hit him hard.  Now his best friends are about to have a baby and everything is changing.  When into his life walks Isla...

What I say:

Rachel Lucas is my latest author crush.  Her stories slot very nicely into the feel-good, heart-warming category - not unlike another one of my favourite authors, her contemporary, Cathy Bramley - and that makes them the perfect summer read to relax with by the pool. Wildflower Bay has been released in digital format in three parts (Part 1 is currently free to download as I write!) which seems to be a growing trend, though as of 11th August all three will be available to download in one delicious book (and will also be released in paperback). Rachel's evocative writing allows the reader to conjure up a beautiful mental image of the remote Scottish island of Auchenmore, complete with it's quirky, but welcoming, inhabitants. The story is brimming with likeable characters whose layers are gradually peeled away as the story unfolds - not least the female protagonist, Isla, who finds herself on a major learning-curve!  A lovely, optimistic read, guaranteed to leave you with a big smile on your face.

What the Blurb says:

Take a chance on a new life and maybe you'll find your happy ever after:  Because true love is always worth the risk...

Handsome prince, beautiful house, fabulous job?  Polly has none of these.  All she has to her name is a string of failed relationships and she's up to her ears in debt.  She sees herself as a hopeless case and would do anything to change her luck.

Simon is approaching the big 50.  He's off his game at work, his kids don't seem to notice he exists and his wife seems to think he's made of money.  As for sex...what's that?

So when the opportunity comes for both of them to swap their lives for a life of luxury, they jump at the chance.  For Simon a life of helicopters, fast cars and hot babes beckons.  For Polly, it's all diamonds, spa days and celebrity parties.  What more could they want?

Trouble is, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.  Is life in the fast lane more than either of them can cope with?

What I say:

When I first started reading this rather addictive book I didn't have a clue where it was going which only served to add to the intrigue. The characters were interesting, their angst was palpable, and the twists in the tail absolutely hilarious. Carole Wyer writes with more than a hint of mischief and the result is one devilishly wicked book! A must for anyone looking for something a little bit different.

What the Blurb says:

Dreaming of the perfect man?

Kate Golightly needs to move forward and what better way to do that than with a trip to the Cornish coast with her best friend and boss, Izzy.

The sea wind is just what Kate needs to finally relax and begin to let go of her past. Except she's suddenly got one big reason to panic!  She's RSVPd 'yes' to the Queen Bee of her high school's wedding saying she's bringing her boyfriend (she doesn't have one) who looks just like Ross Poldark!
With only two weeks to find the Poldark look-alike of her dreams Kate is under a lot of pressure for the Cornish coast to deliver...
What I say:
There definitely seems to be a theme of beautiful scenery running through my Summer Reading Lists and this latest summery read by Sam Tonge is no exception. If pacey, light-hearted and unashamedly romantic reads with lashings of humour float your boat then this is the one for you. The intriguing back-stories to the characters and the healing of Kate's shattered heart add a heart-warming dimension, too.

Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe: The 2016 bestselling summer romance everyone is falling in love with! by [Johnson, Debbie]

What the Blurb says:
The Comfort Food Cafe is perched on a windswept clifftop at what feels like the edge of the world, serving up the most delicious cream teas; beautifully baked breads, and carefully crafted cupcakes.  For tourists and locals alike, the ramshackle cafe overlooking the beach is a beacon of laughter, companionship, and security - a place like no other; a place that offers friendship as a daily special, and where a hearty welcome is always on the menu.

For widowed mum-of-two Laura Walker, the decision to uproot her teenage children and make the trek from Manchester to Dorset for the summer isn't one she takes lightly, and it's certainly not winning her any awards from her kids, Nate and Lizzie.  Even her own parents think she's gone mad.

Her new job at the cafe, and the hilarious people she meets there, give Laura the chance she needs to make new friends; to learn to be herself again, and - just possibly - to learn to love again as well.

For her the Comfort Food Cafe doesn't just serve food - it serves a second chance to live her life to the full...

What I say:  From the heart-wrenching opening to this story - a rambling  letter from the stoic Laura Walker stating why she would be perfect at the Comfort Food Cafe - to the uplifting ending I was glued to this book. Full of optimism, generosity of spirit and mouthwatering food, it ticks a lot of boxes. Oh, and it's a bit of a tear-jerker too, so you might want to wear your water-proof mascara!

When Only Cupcakes Will Do by [James, Daisy]

What the Blurb says:
When life gives you lemons, make lemon-drizzle cupcakes...
Lucie thought that proposing to her boyfriend in Tiffany's would be the best day of her life.  Until he said no.  In just a few seconds, her whole world is turned upside-down!  And when she accidentally switches cocoa powder for chilli powder at work, she finds herself out of a job, too...
Baking has always made her life better in the past, but can Lucie really bake her way to happiness?  Starting her own company, selling cupcakes out of an old ice-cream van might just be the second chance that Lucie needs!
Of course, she never expected to find love along the way...
What I say:
I couldn't wait to download this book and it didn't disappoint. Sandwiched between an exquisitely delicious cover and achingly beautiful happy-ending, the story of the challenges Lucie is faced with as she attempts to get her life back on track is heart-warming. Complete with vintage ice-cream vans, generous helpings of delicious sounding cakes and a dollop of romance, in the shape of the kind and caring Italian Ed, this all adds up to be the perfect light-hearted, feel-good read for your summer holidays. A word of warning, though, during and after reading you could develop an overwhelming urge to eat copious quantities of cake!
